Foods That Lower Cholesterol
It seems that a lot of talk is going around
about foods that lower cholesterol.
While you may be skeptical, this is
absolutely true. Studies have proven it. And if you have high
cholesterol this certainly comes as welcome news.
The one that seems to be the easiest to incorporate into
your diet is cholesterol lowering margarine. You may have seen
it on the store shelves and more manufacturers are putting out
products like this all the time. Again, this actually
works.
In fact some brands point to studies on their label that
shows as much as a 10 percent reduction simply by using it as
recommended. And the better news is that it only impacts your
bad cholesterol. Good cholesterol (HDL) is not reduced at
all.
Some foods that lower cholesterol work by keeping the
intestine from absorbing the cholesterol. Some of the
margarines we mentioned work like this, as do some salad
dressings.
Now let's take a look at some natural foods that can also
help. We'll start with the nuts. Almonds, walnuts and pecans
have all been shown to have a positive affect. They are high in
monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat and will drop your bad
cholesterol levels while keeping the good cholesterol where it
needs to be.
Naturally, many fruits and vegetables will also get the job
done, and they taste great as well. If you're looking for a
place to start, try berries, citrus fruits, apricots, apples
and sweet potatoes.
With so many people suffering from high cholesterol it's
good to know that there are foods that will help bring the
levels down and still taste great as well.
